A Kirkcaldy restaurant boss has revealed plans to introduce Scottish tapas after taking over a bar in the town.
Lauren Hutchison, 25, who runs The Steadings, has acquired Alfie’s on High Street.
She previously worked in the bar and now hopes to offer “something different” with Scottish tapas and cocktails on the menu.
Alfie’s will also host sports days, live music and events.
Kirkcaldy restaurant owner returning to Alfie’s bar
The bar is set to reopen this Thursday (February 8) for drinks with plans to have the kitchen open by March.
Lauren told The Courier: “I used to be the licensee there in 2022 when the bar first opened as Alfie’s.
“It had been closed for two years and it was the Tipsy Cow before that.
“At the time we wanted it to be somewhere for older clientele.
“In April last year, I left to do something on my own and that’s when I opened The Steadings.
“A few weeks ago I got a call from my ex-boss to say Alfie’s was going to be available – it has all happened quite fast.
“I think everyone knew how much it meant for me – we built it to be something quite good.”
Plan to offer Scottish tapas at Alfie’s bar in Kirkcaldy
Lauren continued: “I want to do Scottish tapas – it will be something different.
“I do feel a lot of places in Kirkcaldy do the same kind of thing as each other.
“We will have a niche in that sense.
“I want it to be somewhere you can come with the girls or the boys, or as a couple, and have cocktails and small plates on the table.
“It is something we don’t have and it is something different.”
Lauren plans to bring in a new team of workers led by general manager Logan Stokes, 21, who she has worked with since he was just 15.
She said: “I have also worked with a lot of the team for a long time.
“It proves that I am quite good at having a relationship with them.
“I planning to have Alfie’s open in just a few days.
“I am going to keep the look – I don’t want people to think it is changing too much but I will put my stamp on it again.”
