Having conquered the Pyramid stage at Glastonbury, Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn will join local bands at Kitty’s Nightclub in Kirkcaldy later this month.
On Saturday August 26, Mr Corbyn will make a guest appearance during an event showcasing local bands and musicians at the Hunter Street venue.
The Big Band Bash takes place from 1pm to 9pm, with the Labour leader expected to appear at 2.30pm.
It has been organised by the Kirkcaldy YMCA, which runs a music project for young people.
Kirkcaldy YMCA general secretary Liz Easton said: “There’s a real buzz going about.
“We’ve got performers of all political persuasions but they see it as a great thing to do. What a person to bring to the town. If it’s good enough for Glastonbury, it’s good enough for Kirkcaldy.”
Ms Easton thanked Kitty’s owner Mario Caira for letting them use the venue and said Kirkcaldy and Cowdenbeath MP Lesley Laird had been instrumental in setting up the event.
She added: “Kirkcaldy YMCA has a lot of music projects on the go and has supported musicians as far back as the 1960s.
“Young people come here and learn how to play instruments, and improve their playing, and they go on to form bands.
“This kind of event gives them the chance to perform to a crowd.”
Kitty’s has in the past welcomed guests including glamour model Katie Price, EastEnders actor Danny Dyer and stars from the reality show Geordie Shore.
