Christine Findlay, a volunteer caseworker for Armed Forces charity SSAFA, is one of the 50,000 lucky people who have been chosen to walk over the new Queensferry Crossing.
Christine remembered that “the very first time I crossed the river Forth was during a day trip with my primary school class exactly 49 years ago in September, when we walked over the Forth Road Bridge.
“So I am extremely excited to be given the chance to do the same thing on the new bridge all these years later.”
Christine, who completed her training to be a caseworker for SSAFA earlier this year, is also keen to use the occasion to raise funds to help the local branch to continue supporting veterans and families of armed service personnel within Fife.
Christine’s husband, Ronnie, who was a piper with the Royal Tank Regiment for many years, knows the full range of support that SSAFA can provide for the regular and reserve forces and was extremely proud of his wife for becoming a volunteer for SSAFA and for all her fundraising activities for veterans.
