Police are treating the death of a 38-year-old man in Kelty as “unexplained”.
The grim discovery was made at around 11am on Wednesday in the village’s Keltyhill Avenue.
Police and ambulance crews were called to the scene and two houses were cordoned off.
In a twist, a car with smashed windows was seen outside the houses in the mainly residential area.
Neighbour Vicky Gonsales said: “The driver’s side was all pushed in at the front.”
She added there had been issues recently in the quiet community.
“It is a really nice area, everyone keeps themselves to themselves, but I’ve had to call the police to report things recently.
“To have something like this happen next door is a bit too close to home.”
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Police in Fife are investigating following the death of a 38-year-old man at Keltyhill Avenue, Kelty on Wednesday, September 6.
“The death is currently being treated as unexplained and inquiries are ongoing.”
The Scottish Ambulance Service has confirmed paramedics were sent to the scene.
