Police are investigating after the body of a man was found in a Buckhaven street on Wednesday.
The 42-year-old was discovered near garages on Eagle Road at around 10.25am.
Police said there did not appear to be any suspicious circumstances.
Locals said the area surrounding the garages was cordoned off for a while to allow officers to carry out their enquiries.
One man said: “A body was found lying in the street next to the garages.
“I don’t know what’s happened but the police were here and it was all taped off and everything.”
Local councillor Ryan Smart lives near where the man was discovered.
“It’s absolutely tragic what’s happened,” he said.
“You wouldn’t want that to happen to anybody.”
He said he had been contacted on Facebook by several worried locals who had seen the police activity.
“There were police vans and CID, just what you would expect,” he added.
A police spokesperson said: “Police in Fife were called to Eagle Road in Buckhaven at around 10.25am on Wednesday September 6 after the body of a 42-year-old man was discovered by a member of the public.
“Enquiries are ongoing, however the death currently does not appear to be suspicious and a report will be submitted to the procurator fiscal.”
Eagle Road forms part of what is commonly known as the Bird Scheme, a large housing estate in the north of the town.
