The blaze destroyed one timber outbuilding and damaged another at Silverburn Park, which is being rejuvenated. It is believed it was started deliberately and Police Scotland has appealed for help in tracing those responsible. Several people dialled 999 to report the fire at around 6.45pm on Wednesday. Four fire engines from Methil and Glenrothes were sent to the scene and the fire was extinguished by 7.30pm. A Police Scotland spokesman said: “Police in Fife are investigating following a suspicious fire in Leven. “The incident happened around 6.45 p.m. on Wednesday September 6 within Silverburn Park on Largo Road. “Two wooden sheds were set alight resulting in both outbuildings sustaining significant damage. “Inquiries are ongoing to identify those responsible and anyone with information is asked to come forward.” Silverburn Park is being enhanced by Fife Employment Access Trust and Fife Council. The fire was close to a B-listed flax mill, which is central to the project and could be converted into a hostel, cafe and meeting space.
