An industry leader has paid tribute to BiFab founder and managing director John Robertson, who has died at the age of 60.
Mr Robertson passed away on August 24 after a short illness and his funeral was held on Monday.
Having worked his way up from the shop floor, he went on to lead a management buyout of Norway’s Prosafe, which would see the creation of up BiFab in 2001.
Mr Robertson is survived by wife Angela and the couple’s two children and two grandchildren.
Terry Savage, who chairs Oil and Gas UK’s Fabricators Forum, said: “John was a wonderful man and a stalwart of our industry. We will miss him greatly and share in Angela’s and his family’s loss.”
Martin Adam, who was previously operations director, has taken over as BiFab managing director.
BiFab specialises in manufacturing sub-sea “jackets”, which fix wind turbines to the sea bed.
It operates two facilities in Fife, at Methil and at Burntisland.
A facility was also opened in Stornoway in the Outer Hebrides in 2009.
