Police investigating the vandalism of a memorial bench are hunting the owner of an unusual hat.
A hat adorned with a pink feather was found next to the damaged seat in St Andrews.
The black and gold-trimmed millinery was recovered by officers after the attack on Friday night was reported.
More than £100-worth of plants were also damaged in the garden adjacent to Howard Place where the bench sits.
Empty bottles were strewn around the seat.
Police issued a photograph of the hat on social media in an attempt to establish who it belonged to.
In an appeal for information, North East Fife Police tweeted:
