Specialist police divers have been searching wells and other waterways as the hunt for missing Allan Bryant Jr continues.
With the fourth anniversary of the Glenrothes man’s disappearance approaching, his father Allan Snr revealed 31 new sites had been examined.
“The searches are over with now and nothing was found,” he said.
“They were searching underwater wells at Falkland Hill and various other places after new information was received.”
Mr Bryant said he had chosen to remain quiet while the latest aspect of the police investigation was carried out but added: “It is not a matter of keeping strong, it is a fight to remain sane as these things are happening for our son Allan.
“Things are getting harder and harder as November gets nearer.”
Allan Jr was 23 when he vanished after leaving Styx nightclub in Glenrothes on November 3, 2013.
Despite one of Police Scotland’s largest ever missing person investigations, no trace of him has been found.
A report by police watchdog, the Police Investigations and Review Commissioner (PIRC), criticised the delay in releasing CCTV footage to help the inquiry and the failure by officers to have an incident unit outside the nightclub in the days after the disappearance.
The Bryant family will mark the anniversary of Allan Jr’s disappearance with a sponsored walk at Falkland Hill on Sunday October 29.
Money raised will go towards continuing the search and rewards for information.
