A man was bitten during a frightening dog attack in a Fife park.
The 68-year-old had been walking his own dog in Bellyeoman Park, Dunfermline, when two Staffordshire Bull Terrier-type dogs pounced on Wednesday lunchtime.
They were accompanied by a man and a woman but were off their leads at the time.
Police said one of the dogs ran towards the man, jumped up and bit his fingers in the 1.20pm attack.
He sustained minor puncture wounds to his fingers, which were later treated at Queen Margaret’s Hospital, Dunfermline.
Police were contacted and officers are now investigating.
The male suspect is described as a white man in his 20s.
He has a slim build and is around 5ft 9in tall.
The woman was white, in her late 20s, with a slim build and long dark hair.
She was wearing a dark leather jacket and blue jeans with knee high boots.
The dogs are described as one being brown and the other black.
Neither was wearing a collar nor had any other distinctive markings.
PC Adele Mercer of Dunfermline Police Station said: “Dog owners have the responsibility to keep them under control and on leads when appropriate.
“This bite could have easily resulted in a more serious injury.
“With this in mind we are eager to trace the two dogs along with their owners as soon as possible.”
Anyone who was in Bellyeoman Park on the afternoon of Wednesday, October 25, or recognises the descriptions of the two suspects, is asked to contact police as soon as possible.
