Kinghorn’s RNLI station played host to a Spooky Walk on Saturday night, but there was no rest for the wicked as the lifeboat crew was called into action during the event.
Crew members did not even have time to take their Halloween make up off as they were called out on a shout just after 7pm following reported sightings of red and white flares off the coast of Methil.
A search was undertaken between Buckhaven and Largo Bay but it turned out to be a false alarm.
Lifeboat crew member Keith Hay said: “The volunteer crew who were taking part in the walk quickly swapped their dark clothing for drysuits and launched the lifeboat.
“A coastal search was undertaken in the Methil area, with nothing found. It was suspected that the flares had been set off from land.”
A three-night run of Spooky Walks raised more than £2,200, and Mr Hay said: “I’d like to thank everyone who came along and supported us once again.
“We rely on a lot of support from the crew and fundraising team, family, friends and colleagues from Kinghorn Coastguard Rescue Team.”
