Bosses at Amazon’s Dunfermline plant are carrying out a study of traffic in the area as parked lorries continue to cause problems for neighbours.
Local MSP Shirley-Anne Somerville has met staff from the firm to highlight concerns about Sandpiper Drive.
Amazon insists it has taken steps to reduce the volume of parked lorries on the road, including creating a temporary lorry park.
However, while the long running problem has diminished, locals say there are still issues.
The online giant’s audit will determine what percentage of parked vehicles are down to traffic heading to and from its centre.
The SNP MSP has welcomed Amazon’s plans to examine the situation,
Ms Somerville said: “I have been contacted by concerned residents regarding the number of lorries parked on Sandpiper Drive.
“Peoples’ concerns have primarily revolved around road safety – and this is a particularly important issue as the nights draw in.
“So in the run up to their busiest time of year it is important to challenge Amazon to ensure that they are putting all possible measures in place to deal with what has been an ongoing problem over the years.”
She said the firm had reported a decrease in lorries parked on Sandpiper Drive but it was important to find out if residents agreed, and if there were particular times of the week when the problem was at its greatest.
She also urged people to bear in mind that not all of the HGVs parked there were Amazon delivery lorries.
“On my most recent trip up Sandpiper Drive, I also witnessed parked vans and cars along the side of the road,” she said.
“That’s why the proposed audit is so important.”
Ms Somerville has asked to see the audit and has requested that it should be shared with relevant organisations, including Fife Council.
An Amazon spokesperson said the company was pleased its efforts to reduce the number of vehicles parking on Sandpiper Drive had been recognised, adding: “We are monitoring parking in Sandpiper Drive and will continue to work with the council to find long term additional parking facilities for vehicles visiting the Amazon site.”
