Police in Fife are appealing for witnesses following a housebreaking and attempted vehicle theft in Dalgety Bay.

The incident happened at around 2.55am on Friday November 10 at an address in the White Quay area.

Investigating officers say the suspect has forced entry by smashing a window at the front of the property which has awoken the occupiers.

Once inside the suspect has attempted to steal the occupant’s car by taking a set of car keys.

Police are keen to trace the man they believe to be responsible, who is described as a white male wearing dark coloured clothing.

Inquiries are continuing to trace those responsible and anyone with information is asked to come forward.

Detective Constable Alasdair Young, of Dunfermline CID, said: “We are keen to hear from anyone who saw any suspicious activity in the area during the early hours of Friday morning or who knows who is responsible.

“On this occasion the suspect was disturbed by the householder who managed to flee with a set of keys.

“I would remind people to be vigilant and ensure their property is secure and valuable items are kept out of sight.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact Dunfermline CID via 101, quoting incident number 0301 of November 10.

Alternatively, an anonymous report can be made through the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
