Police have charged a man who was alleged to have been in possession of a weapon in Methil on Thursday night.
Eyewitnesses reported a large police presence in the Mallard Road area shortly before 9pm.
Armed response teams are said to have been among those stationed outside the property, while an ambulance was also at the scene.
While the incident is understood to have been resolved peacefully, a Police Scotland confirmed that a man had been detained.
A force spokesperson said: “Police in Fife responded to an address in Mallard Road, Methil at around 8.45pm on Thursday November 16 following reports of a male in possession of a weapon.
“A 26-year-old man was subsequently charged in connection with this incident and will appear at Kirkcaldy Sheriff Court.”
