It was beginning to feel a lot like Christmas across Fife at the weekend.
Christmas arrived in Cupar on Saturday, with a visit from Santa Claus and the ceremonial switch on of the lights.
Sisters Aimie and Iona Halley, who lost their father Jonathan to motor neurone disease last year, pressed the button to illuminate the town.
Usually the lights are switched on by the town’s citizens of the year but the newly-announced title-holders Wayne Melrose and Val El Dieb passed on the honour to the youngsters.
Meanwhile, over in Kirkcaldy, the now traditional lantern parade lit up the frosty night skies as hundreds, led by Drumatik, took part in the procession.
It ended at the Town Square where school children sang Bringing the Light to herald a spectacular fireworks display.
Christmas fayres were held around Fife, including one by North Glenrothes Community Council with music from the Mary Bradford Singers from Leven.
On Sunday it was the turn of Glenrothes’ Kingdom Centre to get that Christmassy feeling.
Glenrothes Amateur Musical Association performed Sleeping Beauty before the big lights switch on from Lyon Square.
Santas of all shapes, sizes and ages converged on Kinghorn as well.
They took part in a fun family 1.5km run around Kinghorn Golf Course in aid of the local RNLI.
Adult runners received Santa suits, and younger supporters wore Elf hats for the event and participants were served pancakes and mince pies at the annual Christmas fayre in the church hall, which was organised by the station’s fundraising committee.
Event organiser Richard Malcomson was delighted with the support and number of runners.
He said: “I’d like to thank everyone who came along.
“It was one of the coldest days of the year but we still had great fun with nearly 50 people taking part.
“Like 2016, we had all ages taking part from regular runners to young children being pushed in their prams.
“It was great to see so many people coming out to take part and support us.”
”We raised £845 for the RNLI, and coupled with £1,600 collected at the mince pie tea, we had a successful day helping to fund the RNLI.”
