An effort described as a “military operation” has been started to flush an escaped buffalo from a Fife woodland.
The animal, nicknamed Buffalo Bill, is believed to be somewhere in Cardenden Woods after it bolted from a nearby farm on Saturday.
Stevie Mitchell, of The Buffalo Farm, and a local gamekeeper have enlisted the help of volunteers to sweep the extensive woodlands starting at 11am on Thursday.
Posting an update on Facebook, The Buffalo Farm said: “It will be run like a military operation.
“We have organised a team of experienced beaters to sweep the area and hopefully push him out to where we will have calm cows waiting in a pen, who we will walk him back to the farm with.”
