Police discovered £400 worth of cannabis plants abandoned by the side of a local road on Wednesday afternoon.
Officers in South West Fife received reports of the crops on Castlandhill Road, near Rosyth, and posted a photograph of the find online.
The plants were worth about £200 each.
A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: “Police in Rosyth received a report of cannabis plants worth around £200 each having been left at the side of Castlandhill Road on Wednesday 10th January.
“Officers collected them and will arrange for their destruction.
“Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact officers on 101 or anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
The spokeswoman added: “And if the owners wish to claim them, we’d ask them to get in touch.”
Taking to the South West Fife Police Twitter page to post photographs of the plants, the force said: “Found at the side of the road in Rosyth this afternoon. Did somebody get their cannabis plants confused with Christmas trees and throw the wrong thing out after the festive season?
“Easy mistake I suppose. Safely lodged with us.”
