Visitors to St Andrews have always expected world-class golf but now the Fife town can also claim to host one of the planet’s best B&B’s.
The 34 Argyle Guesthouse has been named as the sixth best bed and breakfast in the world by internet tourist guide TripAdvisor.
The accolade is just one of several awarded to holiday accommodation throughout Courier Country, with the St Andrews business also named as the third best B&B in Europe.
It pipped Perth counterpart The Fitzroy by five places in the European poll, though it finished sixth in the national countdown.
Meanwhile, staff at Pitlochry’s Knockendarroch Hotel will need to clear some space on its mantelpiece after receiving three awards.
The luxury retreat was named as the seventh most romantic hotel in the UK, 14th in the UK’s Best Small Hotels category, and 24th in the sector for Best Service.
Also in Perthshire, the Killiecrankie Hotel was also recognised, finishing 24th in the Bargain Hotel category.
Hailing all those recognised at the awards, Hayley Coleman from TripAdvisor said: “These awards are revered and eagerly awaited each year by the hospitality industry owing to the fact that unlike other hospitality awards, these are based on feedback from actual guests over the past year.
“For travellers, they serve as annual bucket list inspiration and with winning hotels often fully booked shortly after our announcement, travellers who want to get in on the action will need to book quickly if they want to see for themselves why these properties are so highly rated.”
