Heavy traffic hit a Fife town following a police ‘stand-off’ with a man said to have been throwing rocks at cars on Tuesday evening. Officers were called to Carnegie Retail Park in Dunfermline at 3.50pm following reports of the incident. Fife Police Division confirmed officers were called to deal with a “disturbance”. A man was photographed by locals on a ledge above the car park. The stand-off at Dunfermline Retail Park Carnegie Drive was closed between Pilmuir Street and the Sinclair Gardens roundabout as a result of the incident, causing long tailbacks. A police spokeswoman said: “At 3.50pm a male was causing a disturbance at in the Carnegie Retail Park area. There have been some road closures.” The man is said to have been brought to safety just after 5.30pm. One local said the man had been “chucking rocks at cars in B&Q car park”. More to follow.
