A baby was among four people hurt in a road accident between Rosyth and Cairneyhill.
The tot, its mother, a teenager and elderly woman who were travelling in the vehicle were also rushed to the Victoria Hospital, in Kirkcaldy.
They were checked over and treated for minor injuries as a result of the smash on the A985 on Friday.
It is understood the car collided with a disused rail bridge near the junction with the B9156 Limekilns road.
No other vehicle was involved.
An off-duty paramedic came upon the incident and raised the alarm shortly before 2pm.
Four ambulances rushed to the scene, the first arriving within three minutes, and police closed the road.
A Scottish Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We received a call at 1552 hours today to attend an incident on the A985 between Cairneyhill and Rosyth.
“We dispatched three ambulances to the scene and three adults and one baby were taken to Victoria Hospital.”
