A 37-year-old man has been arrested and charged amid reports of a serious sexual assault in Leven.
Police are investigating allegations a 23-year-old woman was raped near the disused putting green on the Promenade.
The incident is said to have happened at around 10pm on Thursday.
A cordon was thrown up around the scene and remained in place until Friday lunchtime as police combed the area for evidence.
A police spokesperson said: “Police in Fife are investigating a report that a 23-year-old woman was the victim of a serious sexual assault in the Leven Promenade area around 10pm on Thursday February 8.
“A 37-year-old man has been arrested in connection with this and enquiries are ongoing.”
The man is due before Kirkcaldy Sheriff Court on Monday February 12.
