The search for Fife’s unsung heroes has started once again with the launch of this year’s Kingdom FM Local Hero Awards.
The annual event, which is now in its 11th year, celebrates the achievements of truly remarkable people who make Fife a better place to live, learn, work and visit.
And the 2018 spectacular is expected to be better than ever, with 13 categories aiming to recognise individuals, groups, schools, new businesses and community initiatives across the region.
Since the first Kingdom FM Local Hero Awards in 2007, organisers say they have received tens of thousands of nominations and more than 420 Fifers have gone on to be shortlisted and celebrated for their selfless work in Fife’s schools, workplaces, communities and homes.
Nominations are now being sought online at Kingdomfm.co.uk from today onward, although anyone wishing to honour someone special in their lives only have until Monday April 30 to put their name forward.
Blair Crofts, Kingdom FM managing director, said: “Plans are well under way for the 11th Kingdom FM Local Hero Awards and we look forward to seeing who will make this year’s shortlist.
“I’m always hugely impressed by the quality of nominations and I’m proud that Kingdom FM is able to celebrate those people who really put Fife on the map.”
Kingdom FM’s station manager Darren Stenhouse echoed those sentiments and is looking forward to hearing people’s stories.
“It’s a real honour to be part of this annual event,” he said.
“Every year I’m amazed and humbled by the nominations we receive for our Local Hero Awards.
“If you know a Fifer who deserves to be recognised I’d urge you to vote for them as you never know, they may just end up joining us at our award ceremony.”
The glittering awards ceremony will take place on August 31 at the Rothes Halls in Glenrothes, and always attracts the great and the good from all walks of life.
This year’s gala event is supported by MPH Home, Gym Sixty-Four, Pentland Landrover Cupar, ESPC, Forth Ports Scotland, and Owen Buchanan Builders and Skips.
