The smash was one of two dealt with by Fife emergency services at around the same time on Wednesday morning. Two people were trapped in the collision between two vehicles at the junction of Union Street and Centre Street shortly after 8.30am. Firefighters from Lochgelly freed the casualties and the Scottish Ambulance Service said they and another person involved were taken to hospital. An ambulance spokesperson said: “We received a call at 0828 hours today to attend a road traffic collision on Union Street, Kelty. “We dispatched two ambulances to the scene. “Three patients were transported to Kirkcaldy Victoria Hospital.” A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “All emergency services were in attendance, police, the fire service and the ambulance service.” In Kirkcaldy, a van and car collided on Hendry Road near Hayfield Place at around 8.30am. An ambulance attended but no one required hospital treatment. The fire service was called due to what appeared to be smoke coming from one of the vehicles which was found to be the result of airbags deploying.
