Police in Dunfermline are asking for assistance from the public to tackle a spate of anti-social behaviour incidents within the Townhill area.
Between Thursday February 1 and Thursday February 22, the force received 15 reports of stolen wheelie bins, youths causing disturbances and fires being lit within Townhill Woods.
Anyone with information is asked to come forward.
Parents and guardians are also asked to help police address these issues by ensuring they discuss the risks and consequences of such crimes with young people in their care.
Sergeant Kenny Greig, from Dunfermline Police Station, said: “Those responsible for these incidents might think it’s just a bit of harmless fun, however, local residents, including the elderly and those with young families are having their bins stolen, which causes great inconvenience and even distress.
“In addition, the reckless setting of fires puts not only the culprits, but the general public at great risk of harm.
“These incidents will not be tolerated and we are keen to hear from anyone who can help us identify everyone involved.
“Parents and guardians have a vital role to play by ensuring they know where there children are at evenings and weekends and reminding them that such behaviour is not acceptable.
“Please help us keep the Townhill area a safe place for those who live, work and visit the area.”
Those with information in relation to these incidents can contact Dunfermline Police Station via 101 or make an anonymous report to the charity Crimestopppers on 0800 555 111.
