Two males have been arrested in connection with a disturbance in St Andrews in which two men were seriously hurt.
A 16-year-old boy and a 20-year-old man have been reported to the Procurator Fiscal.
Two men sustained serious facial injuries in the incident, allegedly involving up to 10 youths in the early hours of Saturday morning.
Police offered members of the public reassurance that they were following positive lines of inquiry to identify others involved in what they described as a serious disturbance.
Several people dialled 999 as a fight, which started in Playfair Terrace, spilled through the town centre, in Bell Street, South Street and Abbey Street.
When police arrived at around 2.40am the injured men were found in Abbey Street.
They were rushed to Ninewells Hospital, in Dundee.
