Fife’s finest, The Proclaimers have become the latest celebrities to back a national charity’s appeal.
The singing stars from Auchtermuchty have added their support to the Scottish Catholic International Aid Fund (SCIAF) Wee Box Big Change Lent appeal to help some of the poorest people in the world.
Brothers Craig and Charlie Reid are calling on Scots to support the appeal more than ever this year as all donations received before May 8 will be doubled by the UK Government.
People are being asked to give up a favourite treat like coffee or chocolate for Lent, and use the money they save to put in a special SCIAF Wee Box.
Charlie said: “This year I’m giving up desserts for SCIAF’s Wee Box Lent appeal.
“All the money raised will be doubled by the UK government so it’s a fantastic incentive to give every penny you can.”
Craig, who is giving up chips, added: “It’s not much to ask when you think how much it will help thousands of families around the world grow their own food, earn an income and work their way to a better future.”
