Mounted police joined the search over the weekend for missing student Duncan Sim.
Officers on horseback combed the town, while a helicopter continued the hunt from above.
Duncan, 19, has not been seen since he left a social event at Madras Rugby Club on Wednesday, March 14.
Volunteers also searched woodland at nearby Kemback.
Police in north-east Fife appealed for anyone with information which may help trace the first year chemistry student to get in touch.
They Tweeted: “Extensive enquiries continue in the St Andrews area for Duncan Sim, who was last seen about 2315hrs outside Madras Rugby Club on Wednesday 14th of March.
“If you have any information please contact 101 and quote reference 2987 of 15th March 2018.”

They checked quarries, cliffs, caves and ponds, after checking the action would not conflict with police operations.
Duncan was reported missing after he failed to return his student accommodation at Agnes Blackadder Hall.
