An online sensation’s scheduled appearance at a Kirkcaldy nightclub on Friday night has provoked a mixed response from locals.
Denise Ferrie became an unlikely social media hit after being captured on camera singing Millie Small’s My Boy Lollipop at a funeral at Coltswood Cemetery in North Lanarkshire
The video went viral and has been shared thousands of times, and the 33-year-old went on to be asked to play a gig at Glasgow’s Bar Budda last weekend.

Now she has been booked to play Kitty’s Nightclub in Kirkcaldy’s Hunter Street, and it has caused a bit of a stir on Twitter and Facebook.
The venue described ‘Lollipop’ as a “must see”, and has even offered to put on a bus from Glenrothes if there is enough interest.
It is understood Denise will take to the stage to sing My Boy Lollipop once more, but will also perform a “jailhouse rap” – perhaps a reference to last week when she was pictured running from Airdrie Sheriff Court where she faced five charges including failing to appear at an earlier hearing and not completing a community payback order.
One post on social media criticised Kitty’s for the booking, adding: “I can’t believe she’s actually getting all this attention! What a joke, she was lifted after last time! Yeah great role model n great idea bringing her to Kittys.”
Another branded the move scraping the “bottom of the barrel”.
However, other posts suggests she might well prove to be a big draw for the Fife nightspot.
