Fife Science Festival is preparing to conduct a whole circuit of family fun.
Launched by Emma Dixon, Dundee Science Centre’s in-house robotics engineer, the festival will run from Saturday May 12 to Saturday June 9.
Highlights include free, all-day science adventure events at the Lomond Centre in Glenrothes and Cowdenbeath Leisure Centre.
Bringing together experts from across Scotland, including the universities of St Andrews and Dundee, the festival will deliver activities on everything from physics and psychology to health and chemistry.
Visitors can go along and build bridges with the British Science Association, test their strength, endurance, agility and coordination with Glasgow Science Centre’s FitLab, and explore other planets with GeoBus.
Dundee Science Centre, which will once again coordinate the festival, will also be on hand with its new science boxes, packed with activities ranging from medicine and health to rockets and science to do at home.
The festival, funded by Fife Council, the Scottish Government and Edina Trust, will kick off with the design extravaganza meet the expert event at Dundee Science Centre at 10am on Saturday.
This will feature British Science Association’s tower building activities, exhibit design workshops with Mairi Collins of Makerspace and the chance to design and build structures with the team from STEMs: Bend the Mind.
Visitors can also learn about the creation puzzles and challenges used in psychology and neuroscience experiments from St Andrews engineers.
Paul Strachan, exhibition and community engagement manager at Dundee Science Centre said: “We very much want Fifers to view Dundee Science Centre as part of their community and will be offering them a limited number of free tickets to cover the cost of admission.
