A huge ship bound for Scandinavia has kicked off Fife’s 2018 cruise season.
Fred. Olsen Cruise’s 710-room Balmoral departed the Port of Rosyth, navigating the Forth’s three great bridges on its way to Sweden.
The firm’s flagship vessel, which can house some 1,350 passengers, was assisted by Forth Port pilots as it set off.
Forty-one cruise calls are scheduled for Rosyth this year.
A Forth Ports spokeswoman said: “Rosyth is Forth Ports’ busiest cruise port with 41 cruise calls this year. The port has benefited from significant investment to become Scotland’s key cruise turnaround hub, with great destinations to sail to.
“Across all their Scottish ports, Forth Ports’ are looking forward to another busy cruise season with an estimated 175,000 passengers expected in 2018.”
