Hill of Beath has come up with a plan to curb congested roads.
Parking is at such a premium that blocked roads once led to delays in treating a heart attack victim.
The local football club, Hill of Beath Hawthorn is calling for an area of grass next to its stadium to be turned into a 50-space car park for use on match days — and during the week it could be used by the local primary school.
The plan for the village, home of legend Jim Baxter, is being supported by local SNP MP Douglas Chapman.
The Haws, regularly attract crowds of 250 for SJFA East Region Super League matches.
Two seasons ago 2,500 spectators turned up at a Scottish Cup tie.
But the club has no designated parking area, forcing players, officials and fans to park on kerbs in an already congested residential area.
Club chairman David Baillie said: “A new car park for Hill of Beath is long overdue.
“With no car park allocated to the football club everyone is forced to park on the street which is far from ideal on a match day and has raised issues in the past where an ambulance was unable to drive to the door of a resident who had suffered a heart attack because so many cars were parked in the street.”
Not only that, midweek there are serious issues with parents dropping off children on the very busy main road through the village.
He said every villager would know about “the 30-minute chaos” at 9am and 3pm.
The club’s plans have been supported by headteacher David Green who said: “With the building of the new houses and continued growth of Hill of Beath Primary School, parking will become even more of a problem.
“A car park shared with the Hawthorns FC club would benefit the community as a whole.”
Mr Chapman is confident a solution can be reached. He will now be writing to Fife Council.
“Football and young people are at the heart of this proud village, and every effort must be made to build this car park for their well being and for the benefit of the whole community.”
