The 76-year-old was spotted by a member of the public in the East Sands area at around 8.25pm on Monday. Emergency services raced to the scene alongside the Coastguard who recovered the man’s body. He was flown by helicopter to Ninewells Hospital in Dundee but was pronounced dead a short time later. The death is being treated as unexplained, but not suspicious, and a report has been submitted to the Procurator Fiscal. Officers had launched an appeal for information to try and identify the man who left several items on the shoreline.
