The family of a 29-year-old man killed in a road accident in Fife have expressed their "total devastation".
Martin Buchan, of Coaltown of Wemyss, has been named by police as the victim of a road crash which happened on the A911 Windygates to Glenrothes road in the early hours of Monday.
Relatives paid tribute to Mr Buchan in a statement released through Police Scotland and asked that their privacy be respected as they come to terms with their loss.
“We feel total devastation for the passing of our much loved son, Martin. He has left so many aching hearts behind," they said.
“We would like to say how grateful we are for the tremendous support from friends and family who have been by our side helping us through this tragedy.
“We would like to ask for privacy from the media while we come to terms with our loss.”
Tragedy struck in the early hours of Monday when Mr Buchan's blue Ford Focus left the road and veered into a field.
The accident happened near the junction to Balfour Place, Milton of Balgonie.
A member of the public raised the alarm at around 3.40am.
When emergency services arrived they were unable to save Mr Buchan and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
The road was closed for around 12 hours as crash investigators launched their probe into the circumstances surrounding the accident.
No other vehicles were involved and Mr Buchan had been the sole occupant of the car.
The road has claimed two lives in the space of four months.
On March 6, Cardenden man David Moore was fatally injured in an accident near the Windygates junction.
Mr Moore had been walking along the A911 when he was struck by an Audi.
It is believed he had been walking towards Glenrothes and was hit from behind.
The tragedy happened near the Durie Vale roundabout at around 10.35pm.
Mr Moore was pronounced dead at the scene by ambulance staff.
