The body of a woman has been found in a popular Dunfermline woodland.
Police in Fife have confirmed they are investigating the death of the 39- year-old woman.
However, there appears to be no suspicious circumstances.
Her body was found within a wooded area at Calais Muir Woods near to Nightingale Place in Dunfermline shortly before 11am this morning.
DCI John Anderson said: “Inquires are at an early stage, however, we would like to assure the community that at this stage there does not appear to be any suspicious circumstances.
“There will be a uniformed presence in the area to allow the investigation to take place and we thank members of the public for their patience.”
The alarm was raised at around 11am on Saturday morning.
Police and ambulance crews rushed to the scene at Calais Muir woods which borders Dunfermline’s eastern expansion at Duloch.
The sprawling woodland is popular with dog walkers and families living on the eastern expansion.
Many using some of the network of paths were unaware there had been an incident.
Much of the parkland remained open but one stretch, on the central path deep in the heart of the wood, was taped off.
