A person has died following a serious road traffic accident in west Fife.
Emergency services were called to the B913 between Saline and Dollar at around 10am on Thursday morning following a report of an accident involving a Land Rover Discovery and a Vauxhall Astra.
Paramedics battled to save the life of the driver of the Astra, but the person was pronounced dead at the scene. The other driver is not thought to have been seriously injured.
The road has been closed for most of the day as collision investigators try to ascertain what exactly happened.
A Police Scotland spokesman said: “Police in Fife responded to the B913 road at the Saline Hotel at around 10am on Thursday August 30 following a report of a two vehicle collision.
“A Land Rover Discovery and a Vauxhall Astra were involved in the incident, resulting in the driver of the Astra sustaining fatal injuries.
“They were pronounced dead at the scene by the Scottish Ambulance Service.
“Inquiries into the full circumstances of the collision are ongoing and anyone with information is asked to come forward.”
No further details have been released about the person’s identity, either their gender or age, as next of kin still have to be fully informed by police.
A spokesperson for the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said one appliance from Alloa had been called to assist.
