The abandoned German shepherd was found near Townhill Loch, in Dunfermline, after she was heard barking for several hours. The member of the public who heard her and found her on Saturday morning alerted the Scottish SPCA. An appeal has been issued for information to help trace the person who left the dog, which is thought to be around two years old. Inspector Louise Sneddon, of the Scottish SPCA, said: “The dog was tied to a tree and although she was in good health she was very distressed. “If anyone recognises this dog we’d urge them to contact us as we are keen to identify the person responsible for abandoning her. “Thankfully the dog is now in safe hands and is being cared for by the team at our centre in Balerno.” Abandoning an animal is an offence and those found guilty can be banned from keeping animals. Anyone with information about the dog can phone the Scottish SPCA animal helpline on 03000 999 999.
