Thieves who embarked on a crime spree in the East Neuk of Fife stole security equipment from three fish merchants.
Four fish merchants in Netherton Industrial Estate were targeted overnight between Monday and Tuesday.
Surveillance hard drives were taken from JC Morris and Sons, David Lowrie Fish Merchants and G and J Wilson.
It has been suggested the culprits may have been attempting to “cover their tracks” after CCTV footage of a theft from one of the premises in St Monans was shared on social media.
But Police Scotland have said there was nothing to suggest any link between the latest raids and an incident in August.
A fourth business, Argofish, was broken into but nothing stolen.
In addition, there was also a break-in at St Monans Holiday Park.
It was the second time in five weeks that JC Morris and Sons, who trade under the name Ru An Fhodar, had suffered a break-in.
At the end of August, CCTV footage was circulated of raiders making off with a safe containing family heirlooms.
Bill Morris said: “Once is bad enough, but twice. What’s the point?
“I suppose we’ll pick up and keep going. I don’t know if it’s connected with the last break-in that we had five weeks ago.
“It’s caused a bit of upheaval this morning. We’ve had to arrange joiners to fix the damage and have had the security boys in.
“It’s an expense we could do without, but it’s what the world is coming to.”
David Lowrie believes the crooks were “covering their tracks”.
He said: “They broke into Morris’s five to six weeks ago. The footage was posted on Facebook and they needed to cover their tracks.
“But the police took these images weeks ago. They’ve already got that.”
A Police Scotland spokesman said: “Police in North East Fife are investigating following a spate of break-ins to business premises in the St Monans area.
“The incidents occurred overnight between Monday October 1 and Tuesday October 2, and inquiries are ongoing to identify those responsible. Anyone with information is asked to come forward.”
