A spectator at this week’s Alfred Dunhill Links Championship was left bloodied and shaken after being struck by a stray golf ball.
The woman was hit on the forehead by Englishman Tyrell Hatton’s wayward shot on the 15th hole at Kingsbarns, one of three courses where the championship is taking place.
It is not thought the woman was seriously injured, but she was treated by police and paramedics and was helped on to a golf cart for further treatment at the course’s medical centre.
Hatton himself was quickly on the scene to check on the unlucky victim and she was able to share a laugh with those who came to her aid.
The shocking incident comes just days after a spectator at last week’s Ryder Cup was blinded in one eye as she was hit by a golf ball struck by US star Brooks Koepka.
Corine Remande, 49, has threatened legal action over that incident at Le Golf National club in Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines near Paris.
