Police in Fife have arrested two men in connection with drug offences after quantities of heroin and cannabis were seized in Kirkcaldy and Dunfermline valued at over £21,000.
Intelligence led enforcement activity as part of Operation Prospect – which specifically targets drug misuse in communities – over a 24-hour period resulted in the two arrests.
On Tuesday, in the St Margaret’s Street area of Dunfermline, officers from the Community Investigation Unit executed a search warrant at a property where a number of cannabis plants, with an estimated street value of £2,400, were seized.
A 38-year-old man was arrested and charged and a report will be submitted to the procurator fiscal.
Meanwhile, under a separate investigation, Divisional Pro-Active Unit Officers conducted a search warrant at an address in the Cairns Street East area of Kirkcaldy on Wednesday, where heroin with a street value of over £19,500 was recovered.
A 51-year-old man was arrested and charged and is due to appear at court at a later date.
Detective Inspector Lynne McQuade said: “These arrests are as a result of proactive work by officers under Operation Prospect, the initiative used across Fife to tackle drug crime.
“We are committed to working with our partners throughout the Kingdom to make sure that those who are involved in the supply of illegal substances are targeted, preventing these harmful substances making their way into our local communities.
“Drug crime will not be tolerated and we will always ensure that those involved are robustly dealt with and those responsible brought before the courts.”
