A woman who died in tragic circumstances in Blairhall had lost her newborn baby two years ago.
Claire Turnbull, 36, was pronounced dead at the scene after a disturbance in a flat in Rintoul Avenue on Friday night.
Two people have since been arrested and charged with her murder.
They are expected to appear in private at Dunfermline Sheriff Court on Monday.
It is understood Claire, originally from Methil, had gone to the first floor flat with others on the night she died.
Two years ago she endured the pain of losing a baby daughter at just three weeks old.
Friend Laura Turnbull, who is not related to Claire despite sharing the same surname, said: “Claire was a lovely, generous, lost soul.
“This world was beyond cruel to her and still she shone bright. She saw no one below her although many chose to put her beneath them.
“I hope she at peace in a better place than this world ever was to her.”
Claire lost her newborn baby Violet-Ivy to cot death while she was living in Cupar.
Police were called to her home in Kinloss Crescent, which she had moved into just weeks before giving birth, early in the morning of October 22, 2016.
A routine investigation was launched into the death. Police later said baby Violet-Ivy had been the victim of an “unexplained infant death”.
At the time a friend said she had been looking forward to welcoming her new arrival.
Just a few months before, in May 2016 and while she was pregnant, Claire was reported missing from Kirkcaldy.
Police said there was concern for her wellbeing, given her condition, and issued an appeal. She was later traced safe and well.
Claire was based in Dunfermline just before her death.
Having lived in different areas of Fife, she knew people across the kingdom.
Maggie Bell said: “Claire never seemed to have a easy time of it.
“Her life was difficult and hard but she tried to soldier on no matter how hard it got for her.
“Such a tragedy for her life to be taken in such a horrendous way. She will be sorely missed by many people from many different areas of Fife.”
The normally sleepy village of Blairhall became the focus of intense police activity on Friday night after the incident at a flat in Rintoul Avenue.
It happened at around 7.30pm.
A large section of the street was cordoned off by police as crime scene officers investigated the incident.
On Saturday morning, a forensic officer could be seen taking evidence from the first floor flat and detectives later arrived on the scene.
Detective Inspector Kelly McEwan from Dunfermline CID said: “Our thoughts are with Claire’s family and friends at this tragic time.
“Claire’s family are being supported by specialist officers and the family kindly request privacy at this time to come to terms with their loss.
“We are satisfied that this was an isolated incident and we are not looking for anyone else in connection.”
