Police are scouring CCTV in an attempt to track the movements of a Fife man who was found with a serious head wound in Lochgelly.
Officers have asked businesses in the Main Street area of the town for any footage from the early hours of October 28.
Dante Darko was found unconscious by a member of the public on Dundas Street at around 3am having suffered a “significant” injury to his head.
The 23-year-old was rushed to the Western General Hospital in Edinburgh where he remains in a critical but stable condition.
One local resident, who wished not to be named, said: “He was drinking in Shardys Bar on Bank Street from about 9pm.
“He was sat on the seat nearest the toilets with another man. There was live music on and he was having a good time.
“But then he just sort of disappeared after about an hour and half. The next time I saw him was a bit later on when he was standing across the street outside Diamonds Bar.
“The guy who had been in Chardys with him wasn’t there anymore. He’s lived in Lochgelly for a few years now and used to come into the pubs with his husband a lot.
“Everyone’s pretty shocked about what’s happened to him and they hope that the police get to the bottom of it for his family’s sake.”
Investigators are keen to speak to the occupants of a dark-coloured SUV, possibly a Nissan Qashqai, that stopped near Diamonds pub at around the time the clocks went back.
They are also hoping to trace two male pedestrians who were also in the Dundas Street/Main Street area around half an hour before Mr Darko was found.
The first male is described as white with a slim build, black hooded top with the hood up, black knee-length shorts, white trainer socks and black trainers.
The second male is described as being white with a larger build and wearing a dark zip-up top with a lighter coloured panel on the chest, dark trousers and carrying a cream-coloured backpack.
Those with information can contact Dunfermline CID via 101 and quote incident number 3709 of October 28.
