A Fife man has been jailed for more than three years following a vicious assault on an elderly pub landlord.
Thomas McCabe, 28, described as a prisoner at Perth, punched and kicked Daniel King after being told to leave Burt’s Bar in Buckhaven on September 21, before continuing his brutal attack on the 74-year-old outside the pub.
CCTV footage showed McCabe dragging and kicking the stricken landlord while he lay on the ground outside his premises in Randolph Street, returning 20 seconds later to aim a sickening running kick at his prone victim’s head.
The court heard how Mr King, now 75, and another man, Angus McKay, 56, had tried to get McCabe to leave the pub shortly before midnight when they found him asleep at the bar.
McCabe became violently aggressive, with the altercation spilling on to the street.

Mr King was knocked out and was said to be unconscious for around six minutes.
Depute fiscal Ronnie Hay said McCabe threatened the police who arrested him.
“He was saying he would rape a female officer and bite their noses off,” Mr Hay told the court.
Mr King had suffered numerous wounds and bruises, although a CT scan showed no acute injury, while Mr McKay declined medical treatment.
Defence solicitor David Cranston revealed his client had been the victim of a vicious assault earlier this year and was left fighting for his life after being stabbed.
He said McCabe had been heavily intoxicated when he assaulted Mr McKay and does not remember the incident.
Sheriff James Williamson sentenced McCabe to a total of 37 months in prison for the “cruel and prolonged” attack.
Mr King did not want to comment on the sentence when contacted by The Courier, although he did confirm he was still suffering dizzy spells.
