Thieves stole a Rolex watch and cash in euros from a house in Dunfermline.
The break-in at Edzell Way, in the Duloch area, happened on Tuesday in either the afternoon or early evening.
Distraught householders also found various electrical items had been taken after entry was forced to their home.
Detectives investigating the housebreaking have appealed for information to help trace those responsible and recover the stolen items.
Detective Constable Eddy McKnight, of Dunfermline CID, said: “The homeowners are utterly devastated at the theft of their possessions and we are following a number of lines of inquiry within the local area to identify the culprits and return the stolen goods.
“If you believe you saw any suspicious activity within Edzell Way during the afternoon and early evening of Tuesday December 11 then please contact us immediately.
“Similarly, we’d also be keen to hear from anyone who can provide any other information relevant to this investigation.”
