A Fife lifeboat crew is counting down to Christmas with a fun-filled photographic advent calendar.
Volunteer lifesavers in the East Neuk have struck festive poses for the series of pictures by Audrey Peddie, including forming the shape of Christmas tree.
Anstruther RNLI’s annual Sleeps to Santa campaign is eagerly awaited by its thousands of followers on social media.
This year’s effort shared on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter also includes images of crew members hoisting gifts aboard the lifeboat and decking the launch vehicle with tinsel.
The lifeboat crew will remain on call as ever, over the Christmas and New Year holiday.
As they wake up to open their presents on Christmas morning and later tuck into their turkey dinner and tune in to the Queen’s speech, they will remain at ready to be called into action in an emergency.
Their fun countdown to Christmas is seen as a way of thanking their own volunteers, the community and those who support fundraising efforts for helping to keep the service afloat throughout the year.
Coxswain Michael Bruce said: “It is at this time we value and thank our wonderful volunteer crew as they help us to stay on service over the Christmas period.
“It’s not the first time there’s been a call on Christmas Day and our crew are ready and willing if we are requested.”
Anstruther is one of 238 lifeboat stations around the UK and Ireland that will remain on call throughout the festive period.
On New Year’s Day Kinghorn RNLI will host its annual Loony Dook at Kinghorn Beach.
Scores of brave souls will run down the lifeboat station slipway into the Forth at 11am, many of them raising money for the RNLI.
