NHS Fife has welcomed a special visitor to Kirkcaldy’s Victoria Hospital to ensure this year’s Christmas video will be a smash hit.
Ahead of his big night next week, Santa Claus chose Fife as the destination for his pre-Christmas ‘elf check’.
The fun was filmed for the hospital’s annual video, which has become a festive favourite.
After being given a once over from consultant cardiologist Dr Lynn Miller and specialist nurse Sharon Robertson, Santa received a clean bill of ‘elf’ – albeit with a few small caveats.
The video also shows his stop at an NHS Fife board meeting to give a presentation on productivity and ends with around 270 healthcare staff from across the length and breadth of Fife giving their best rendition of ‘Santa Claus is Comin’ to Town’.
The video, which was recorded entirely in-house, has quickly become a hit since its release, being shared as far away as Australia and the United States.
More than 50,000 people have watched on NHS Fife’s Facebook page alone.
NHS Fife chief executive Paul Hawkins, who has a brief cameo alongside chairman Tricia Marwick, explained the reason behind releasing a Christmas video each year.
He said: “Our staff work incredibly hard all year round and we make the video each year to try and recognise this.
“Staff from across a vast variety of wards and departments feature and I am delighted to see how well the video has been received, both by staff and by the population we serve.
“There is a real camaraderie amongst our staff and this, above all, is what shines through in our video this year.
“They are a credit to NHS Fife and I want to thank them for the continued dedication they show, and wish them a very merry Christmas.”
The success mirrors that of the 2017 effort — an X-Factor themed production which racked up more than 112,000 views on Facebook in a single weekend.
