Council planners in Fife have given the green light to plans for a like-for-like replacement of school buildings badly damaged by fire.
Cairneyhill Primary School was hit by a significant blaze in December 2017 which prompted the complete demolition of the main school’s auxiliary wing and the closure of the nursery building which was also subject to fire, smoke and water damage.
The school reopened following refurbishment work in April and temporary accommodation was brought on site to accommodate facilities affected by the blaze.
Construction work on the rebuild is now expected to begin in January ahead of completion in August 2019, with new windows and doors and external decoration planned for the nursery.
