Christmas may be over but the fun has only just begun in Kirkcaldy.
The town is gearing up for its second annual Twixmas celebration, with a family ceilidh, live bands, DJs and pipers all geared up to provide entertainment over the next four nights.
Lost Shores Ceilidh Band will kick off proceedings on Friday night with a spirited performance designed to get feet tapping.
A few tickets still remain for families, who are invited to take along their own food and drink.
Saturday and Sunday see the return of free family fun events, including a bouncy castle, a rodeo reindeer and giant games, all donated by Quaser Entertainments.
There will also be cup cake decorating, face painting and children’s entertainer Cobblers the Clown who will oversee games and balloon modelling.
The events take place between 11am and 12.30pm and from 1pm to 2.30pm and, although free, limited space means tickets must be applied for.
Also on Sunday, the free events continue with young people’s music and a festive jam, with six local bands and young performers being given the chance to take to the stage from 3pm to 5pm.
Members of the public are invited to go along and jam with the bands.
A live bands night on Saturday from 6.30pm to 11.30pm will showcase a great line up of local talent, all of whom have had previous association with Kirkcaldy YMCA’s music project.
A new young band, Double Denim, will open the event, followed by State of Emergency, Oskars Brave and headliners Snapping Turtles.
Everyone needs a £5 wrist band, available on the door, to enter.
Local DJs will take over on Sunday evening, warming up the crowds for the main performers, dance acts QFX and GBX.
The big Hogmanay bash will see in 2019 with popular band The Columbos, Kirkcaldy and District Pipe Band and performances from the Sarah Hendry School of Highland Dance there to mark the bells.
Labour councillor Neil Crooks, convener of Kirkcaldy area committee, said organisers hoped to build on the success of last year’s events.
“Hogmanay celebrates the passing of one year and looks optimistically at the potential of the year to come,” he said
“Without support from the voluntary sector, led by Liz Easton and the YMCA, and buy-in from local businesses, the event would have remained on a wish list.”
