A teenager has appeared in court after a man was seriously injured in Cowdenbeath. The 17-year-old, who cannot be named for legal reasons, has been charged with assault to severe injury. Police were called to an incident in the Thistle Street area of the town in the early hours of New Year’s Day. A 19-year-old was badly hurt and rushed to hospital in Kirkcaldy. The accused, of Cowdenbeath, appeared on petition in private in Dunfermline Sheriff Court on Thursday. He made no plea and was released on bail. His case was continued for further examination. A Police Scotland spokesperson confirmed officers had been called to Thistle Street at around 2.45am on January 1. She said: “A 19-year-old man was taken to the Victoria Hospital with serious injuries.”
