The blaze broke out in the bin store of the flats in Pratt Street at around 7.30pm on Friday. Firefighters from the town’s station and the ambulance service rushed to the scene. It is understood police closed the road, near Starks Park football stadium, while the flames were extinguished. A spokeswoman for the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said: “We got a call at 7.31pm to a block of four flats. “There was a fire on the ground floor bin store. “The fire and rescue service used four breathing apparatus, two hose reel jets, a thermal imaging camera and a pressure ventilation fan. “A female received precautionary checks from the ambulance service.”
