A funeral service for a Fife woman who died following a car crash last month is to raise money for the air ambulance paramedics who battled to save her.
Heather Summers, 73, from Markinch, passed away the morning after the three-car accident on the A911 Glenrothes to Leven road on Saturday January 26.
Tributes have been paid on social media to the well-loved mother and grandmother to seven grandchildren, and friends and family will get the chance to pay their respects at Kirkcaldy Crematorium on the afternoon of Wednesday February 13.
Donations to the Scotland’s Charity Air Ambulance will be taken on leaving the service in Mrs Summers’ memory.
The crash, which took place near the blue bridge at the West Mill Road junction on the A911, forced the closure of the road for six and a half hours.
The helicopter was called to transport her as quickly as possible to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary.
A 70-year-old woman and a 78-year-old man were both taken to Dundee’s Ninewells Hospital following the accident, suffering from what police described as serious and minor injuries respectively, while another 73-year-old woman was treated at Kirkcaldy’s Victoria Hospital for serious injuries.
No further details have been divulged on their conditions and police are continuing to investigate the crash which involved a Peugeot 2008, a Honda Jazz and a Vauxhall Mokka.
